okay,
let u guys see my RJ of the day.
i used 30 mins to squeeze out my brain juice to complete it.
''How do you feel about what you have learnt, and why?''I feel that what I have learnt today helps to me to think before I talk so that I would hurt other people in other races, not judging look by its cover as well as why people are being discriminate, prejudice and stereotype.
Firstly, I learnt that when speaking with strangers who are of different races must be careful of the used of words. They might find it offended when you unintentionally used words which might hurt them. For example when chatting with an Indian guy, try to avoid using the word ‘black’ or call them ‘blackie’. I mean that it might be true that they will be offended and misunderstand that you are mocking at them. I think that it is best to think twice before you speak and if you really unintentionally say something which is not that nice, apology to them. I feel that by learning this, it would enable me to make more friends which are of different races.
Secondly, judging a person by its cover it not fair. If you don’t really know the person might as well don’t judge the person. If you dislike that person it doesn’t mean that the person likes you. Judging a person by his/her appearance or action doesn’t tell much. This does not mean that a person who looks kind and donates to charity is really a kind person. Similarly we should take our time to know that person as well as his/her character before we can judge them. We might misinterpret a good person with bad intention while a bad person with good intention just by judging their appearance or action that is done. I feel that we should judge a book by its content instead of the cover. A person should be judge fairly by its character but not their action nor appearance.
Lastly, why people are being discriminate, prejudice and stereotype depends on situation. For example, when a person who is paralyzed. The person is sometimes being seen as ‘alien’ or ‘abnormal figure’. People discriminate, prejudice and stereotype when they notice that thing isn’t normal as they usual know or see. There are also quite a lot of factors which contribute to people being discriminate, prejudice and stereotype. When you are the odd one out, people tend to classify and eliminate you out. It is a nature instinct that human like things which are perfect. Once they notice that things aren’t perfect, they pin-point out the flaws in them. Discriminate, prejudice and stereotype can happen in anywhere any time and any person.
I feel that everyone should be treated equally regardless of age, sex, nationality or races. Everyone has the rights to be discriminate, prejudice and stereotype because everyone is not perfect. But knowing the process of how human are being discriminate, prejudice and stereotype we can play a part in understanding the victim of being discriminate, prejudice and stereotype. Putting yourself into other people’s shoe is what I feel which is the most important of today’s lesson so as harmony and peace can be promoted.
